“Familiar Territory” is an ongoing series utilizing urban and natural objects that Lois avidly collected or used in creating art for over twenty-five years. She uses the objects as mark-making tools that evolve into installations of three dimensional wall drawings. Working directly on the wall, she explores the formal qualities of line, space and movement. As Lois create drawings, she digitally documents what she has done, then disassembles the work in order to make room for more drawings and begins again. This practice encourages a sense of play and being in the moment, an important element in all her work.
