Brief
Description
These
six oil-on-panel paintings reflect the practice of architecture,
photography and painting. Content is derived from real
architectural spaces, all interiors. The images are
based on photographs of "masterpieces" of
architecture, by Le Corbusier, Ando, Lebiskind, and
so on. The images represent architectural fragments,
eliminate scale, and void habitation. In rendering the
original architecture through photography and finally
as painting, the resulting work is abstract and the
images take on a glow and mystery. All the images involve
light and shadow, reminiscent of the original architecture,
but are separate works of art.
"I am always fascinated by artists/painters that
arrive at their work from another art practice. For
me, studying architecture, and having that knowledge
is never far from the daily practice of painting. I
don’t think I can make one kind of painting for
the rest of my life, just like I could never imagine
life without experiencing architecture, photography,
music, and of course painting. They are all inter-connected
in inter-disciplinary."
