"Tissues and Trimmings"
Artist Statement
Tissues and Trimmings is an exhibition of recent sculptural works constructed from various collected materials including decorative fabric, pins, fur, ribbon and lace. These materials are reconfigured into hybrid objects that celebrate ornamentation and question traditional definitions of femininity. I am interested in
highlighting my subversive intervention on the materials while simultaneously allowing them to maintain a trace of their original essence. My intention is to construct objects that are both sensually enticing and thought-provoking, both beautiful and troubling.
