...In the exhibition "Baghdad Museum" artists have developed work relative to their own individual practices in response to the looting of the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad... The Baghdad Museum exhibition exists as a lamentation on the loss, the ambiguities, the collusion and propaganda. It is a search for meaning through the rubble of media scrutiny and rhetorical bombast from all sides. Fueling the imagination of the artists is not only the visible dismantlement of relics from an ancient culture, but also the self-destructive assault on the roots of our own western civilization. The warrior's historical imperative is to superimpose his own young, crude, and powerful culture. The artist's is to perceive and articulate through the power of symbols, the forces of desire, tragedy of loss Margaret Rodgers, December 2003. Proceeds from sales revenue will be shared between
the artist and the Iraqi Red Crescent which will go through the Canadian Red Cross (its counterpart) to contribute to humanitarian aid. Media
